Due to a broken wrist of the host this event is unfortunately cancelled.Repair Café Østerbro is a community of volunteers with a social and sustainable goal: they do their best to repair all kinds of things so you don't have to throw them away. Consumption is a main - and often the biggest - component of your ecological footprint, so every piece being fixed instead of bought new makes a difference!
Anyone is welcome to come by with broken laptops, clothes, bags, toasters, jewellery, etc. Te volunteers look at things on a first-come, first-served basis. While waiting you can get coffee, a cold drink or snacks, relax or play games (some cards and small games are available) in a cozy atmosphere, and learn more about our Center and the other activities happening here.
It is free to get help fixing your items, but they only have the tools, so please bring any materials or spare parts that could be needed.
The repairs are on your own responsibility and they do not make any guarantees on the result of the repair attempt. If they are busy, they fix max. 2 items per person as they would like to help as many people as possible.
Since we do not have a workshop, they cannot repair everything. Examples of things they can not help with:
- clothes / dressing arrangements or zip change (go to a tailor)
- adjustment of sewing machines
- welding
- carpentry work
- and generally things that are too time consuming; that of course depends on how busy we are, and you might give it a try :)
If in doubt, contact them through facebook or come by so they can see if they can help with your broken thing.
They are always looking for "fixers" that are good at repairing. Perhaps you can sew, solder, fix computers, are a Mac expert, can do something with electricity, electronics, smartphones or something else. The work is voluntary, but you can do a good deed. It is not important that you can come every time. If you would like to join them - or maybe just hear more - they would love to hear from you.
The Repair Café Østerbro usually takes place once a month on weekends 14-17.
